Hi everyone, it’s ‘old’ Al again, (Whoops, I forgot, I’ve been upgraded to ‘Vintage Al’ now! You know like ‘fine wine’.) Personally I don’t know if that’s better or just old anyway. Oh well, it is what it is, huh!
Anyway, the real reason I’m back this time bugging you is to make sure you book Saturday the 26th for our MARDI GRAS Happy2Hour event. Trust me, (oh yeah, I never trust anyone telling me to trust them; I forgot that too.) You do not want to miss this Happy2Hour at all! We get to pull out all stops and make this the one unforgettable Happy2Hours for the year. (Of course, I guess I’ll be saying that again a few more times this year, too.)Anyhow…
For one thing, you don’t want to miss the appetizers we have planned for you, and of course our cocktail we featured two years ago before that nasty Covid virus stuck it’s nose into our fun business.Chef Diane Perry goes on record that Mardi Gras and everything New Orleans is her favorite time and thing to celebrate and knock herself out making the best appetizers of the year. (Okay, I caught that myself on that; I’ll be telling you that again one day, so forgive me Chef, I’m ‘Vintage’ you know.)
So, what has she planned for us, you ask, you know I’m gonna tell ya, so here goes.(I can see already that Google will be used to help me on spelling the following.) Classic Shrimp Rémoulade, Andouille Sausage in puff pastry, Creole Dip withCrostini, and maybe something else, who knows! But it doesn’t stop there, oh no, we’ve got desserts like Beignets, and King Cake, too! I meanareyou gonna miss this one! Man, I’d pay real money for all that, but not you, no sir! It’s FREE just come and buy some $20 buck cocktails! Ya right, this is a Happy2Hours, you know the one where the drink tickets are sold at 2 for $5.00 bucks!Of course, you if you don’t need two tickets, we still have the $3.00 single cocktail tickets and of course, our Premium Top Shelf choices are available for $5.00. (You can’t even get a plain old cocktail for $5.00 in a restaurant you know. And we give you the expensive stuff for that!)
Oh yeah, I almost forgot the Shenanigan Special Cocktail.(Vintage remember.) It was our very popular cocktail from the last Mardi Gras we held in 2020. The Fat Tuesday Rum Runner, maybe because I’m a rum nut, it might be why I chose it again. Or the fact it was so popular and we actually got to pay our liquor bill afterwards might be a close second reason. You know that’s my other job here, be able to pay our liquor bill when it comes due.
Maybe you need to know what’s in the Rum Runner, it’s a lot, but I don’t care, we’ve got all those Chef Diane appetizers to compete with. I want you to go home shaking your head in wonder if we all are nut cases or don’t know how to properly charge for stuff. Really! Well all those of you who don’t like rum, WHY? Well, you can skip this part of the letter. There’s two different Rums in this one, plusOrange Curacao, Sweet ‘n Sour mix, Orange Juice, Cranberry Juice and topped with a slice of Orange. But if you want a cherry, that too. I’m thinking, maybe I’m a little crazier than I originally thought! Nope, just nicely ‘Vintage’ remember!
If you were a fan of the Valentine’s Cocktail, we can still make that one for you, It doesn’t have rum in it, just vodka and other good stuff. See, I’m thinking about you rum haters out there. Did you buy that?
Wow, I almost forgot, there’s another surprise for ya on Saturday. Maybe those of you who have been to some of our older Happy2Hours will remember my old buddy bartender ‘Gus’. He’s been recovering from a difficult operation for a very long time now, has promised to come and help Mark behind the bar for us, even if it’s just for a little while. So if you remember Gus and his awesome sense of humor, come say hi and make him remember how much fun he had behind the bar for us. I know Mark is looking forward to seeing his old bar friend, too.
Now if you can think of something better to do on Saturday from 3:00pm to 5:00pm, well what can I do other than tell you to cancel that and show up for Happy2Hours. Oh ya, did you know, it’s tradition to wear a mask, like a fancy one, not the Batman kind. It can have glitter or feathers or whatever, and it’s okay to wear brighter than normal party clothes, too. Might even be the best time to wear those Mardi Gras beads you’ve been holding onto for a year or two, I’m just saying.I might even find something fun to wear myself. Ya gotta come and find out for yourself though.
Okay, now I’m done with my enticing email. If I did good, I’ll be seeing you on Saturday. Can’t say I didn’t try hard, huh?
Al Fichera,
‘Vintage’ Bar Manager
