Valentine’s Dinner Dance Reminder

Feb 7, 2023

Hi everyone, it’s me again, your resident “rum-loving-party-booze-guy”, Al.

I just wanted to let you know Shenanigans will be featuring some dynamite cocktails for the Valentine’s Dinner Dance coming up this Saturday afternoon – Feb 11th. The bar will be open at 5:00 p.m.; but as usual, you’ll see us being busy setting up the joint and hour earlier for you.

Your favorite “Mixologist Gus” will once again be offering two special top shelf cocktails that were a big hit last year. The “Purple Knight” and “Love Potion #9½” Essentially, it’s the same cocktail, each with a different booze. The “Purple Knight” features our top shelf Maker’s Mark Whiskey, and the “Love Potion #9 ½” also features a top shelf vodka of your choice. (The ½ comes from us so you don’t confuse it with the traditional Love Potion cocktail which is nowhere as good as this one!)

There are two key ingredients used, a homemade Blueberry-Sage Syrup, that Gus makes himself at home, and a French aromatized aperitif called Lillet. (In case you want to sound like a “know-it-all,” Lillet is pronounced “Lee-LAY,” go figure, it’s a French thing.) Lillet is a blend of Bordeaux grapes and citrus liquors, and don’t begin to talk about the cost! However, it’s worth the expense. Of course, if I didn’t piqué your curiosity, or wet your whistle, our bartenders will be able to make almost anything you’d like to drink within reason; okay? However, we do have an extensive selection of cordials on hand to use.

Of course we will have the “Signature Bar” open with everyone’s favorite duo, Norm and Renee offering their Valentine’s Cocktail at regular price. It will be a “Strawberry Daiquiri” over the rocks, made with Bacardi Silver Rum and fortified with Strawberry Puree this time; I mean, it’s a red drink and it’s a Valentine’s cocktail, what else would it be? Please, don’t tell me, I’ve already got the stuff on hand now, too late.

A small request to help out our hard-working ticket-lady-person, Colleen; if you are thinking about a top shelf drink from the main bar, let her know. It will save you going back to exchange your drink ticket later.

Lastly, coming up on the 25th will be our “Mardi Gras” Happy2Hour event, do not miss it! Mark your calendars! Trust me, you’ll be sorry! Just saying for now, more coming soon; what else is new.

Al Fichera,
Shenanigans Bar Manager
