Aloha everyone once again, it’s Mai Tai Al.
I try not to annoy you with unnecessary emails from Shenanigans, but sometimes I just ‘gotta do what I gotta do!’ And this email is that kind of ‘gotta do.’ Thank you, thank you, thank you for making all of us from Shenanigans Bar so very happy. I know I speak for the Squad, because I saw how much fun they were having serving you; as volunteers, that speaks volumes in itself.
What a treat it was for me walking around the room and seeing all of you supporting our Luau once again. How much fun it was to see all the beautiful Hawaiian clothes you wore plus the leis you allowed us to give you to wear on them. I certainly couldn’t ignore all the happy faces and happy talk around the room, and then seeing how many of you were trying our own Mai Tai recipe and liking it, too. I thought you’d like to know that we prepared over three and a half gallons of Mai Tais, and Norm and Renee managed to pour every last drop of it for you. That’s a first sell out for us. Our mixologists at the main bar got into the Hawaiian spirit themselves and knocked out a variety of cocktails right up to the last minute of the day.
Thanks to Sandy and Lowell Huddleston for providing the nice Hawaiian music, and to Chefette Lori Withers for all the hours she worked last week preparing the fantastic spread of food, and of course to those who helped her on Saturday as well. That was the first time I ever tried Jerk Chicken and I liked it!
I’d like to thank the newlyweds and new residents of the our village, Lee and Kathleen for volunteering to greet and hand out the leis to you at the front door. They approached me early in the afternoon to see if there was something they could do to help; well I did need someone to hand out the leis and they jumped right on it for us. It’s such a treat knowing that our new residents are our new volunteers; we may not get paid in cash but the feeling you get is so much better than cash. (I’ll swear I never said that, so be aware! Haha.)
As you can see it takes a team to pull these events off for you and we have the best team ever at Shenanigans! But understand it takes you, our guests to make the event eventful and memorable, this year’s Luau was one to never forget. And thank you for supporting us and keeping the Happy2Hours so much fun to put on for you.
Al Fichera,
Bar Manager
