In the past week, I have received 4 phone calls. The calls show Rio Linda and either 916-243-0409 or 916-237-1340 on my phone’s screen. No message was being left.
I finally picked up to see if I could get the calls stopped.
The lady mumbled something but I did hear “ADT” so I asked her why she was calling. She indicated it was time for us to have a free upgrade to our ADT security system. Would I like to set a time for them to come out and replace our ADT keypad/controller? She had two openings for that evening or they could come out the following day. She seemed to have our account information but I now realize she only had our name, address and phone number. I scheduled for that evening in a little over an hour. (My first mistake – ADT doesn’t do things that quickly)
Two young men came to our house and asked to see our ADT equipment. Then we sat down to talk. They gave us a card to show us what the new controller would look like. It had a big BRINKS logo on the card. Then we noticed they were wearing BRINKS hats. Meanwhile our daughter Googled “Is ADT owned by BRINKS?” on her phone. It showed that the two companies are not connected but that Brinks was trying to get ADT customers to switch to their service with many complaints about a new contract with Brinks.
Husband told them we NEVER sign a new contract on the first meeting. We could tell they had lost interest in us but the man did offer me his business card. They also said if we called ADT, the company would just bad-mouth them.
Red Flags Popping Up All Over The Place!!! Daughter went out to take a picture of their license plate on their black pickup. No front plate, no logo on truck. Before she could take a picture of the rear license plate, the two men jumped into the truck and left in a hurry.
We suggest before you let anyone into your house, that you call the number YOU have for that company to confirm what is happening is ok. Never trust a phone number that shows up on your phone’s screen. They can be set to say anything.
