CURRENT EMAIL SCAM

Aug 31, 2022

The latest email scam hitting people in the park is one where you receive an email from one of your “friends” saying they’re in trouble and asking for either money or a gift card (usually Target). It looks legitimate but is not. DO NOT RESPOND. THIS IS A SCAM.

There are several variations of this particular scam going around. If you receive any emails asking for money or telling you they’re sending you money, wanting you to deposit the money in your bank account then send them back so much money to pay the “tax” DON’T DO IT! It’s a SCAM. If any of these emails come to you just delete them. DO NOT RESPOND. If you are unsure, call your “friend” who supposedly sent the email and double check whether or not they sent the email. Chances are they have no idea what you’re talking about.

Please be careful. There are some clever scammers out there.
