Happy2Hours Reminder

Jun 13, 2022

Aloha everyone!

Did you get the feeling I’m on a Hawaiian 🌺 bent here? Ya, you betcha! Since I can’t afford to take all of you off to some Hawaiian Island with me, let me at least offer the next best thing, bring a bit of Hawaii here to the village instead. Get ready to Hula this Saturday, June 18th from 4 to 6 p.m.

Once again, I bought some Leis, a bit different than last year’s version, over 10 different designs this time. Of course, real flower Leis would be kinda dead by now, so, I bought the silk kind again. At least those won’t die on us. 🙁 I could only purchase 100 of the Leis, so it’s gonna be first come, first Lei’d, so to speak. 😂 So, don’t forget to wear your best Hawaiian threads, or the next best thing to compliment the Leis. There’s something really strange about how that sounds, huh.

Of course, I will once again offer my own version of the perfect Mai Tai; it took me quite some time to track down the perfect ingredients, too. I’ll probably write something about that in my next Crier column. You can expect the lovely duo of Renee and Norm to be pouring the Mai Tais for you at their own bar station. And then, there’s a new twist this year, thanks to sibling rivalry amongst our bartenders, Mark and Gus from the main bar want to offer their version of another favorite Hawaiian Cocktail, the Pina Colada. I shopped for all the ingredients for both bars, the cocktails are gonna be awesome! I’m telling ya!

Our renowned Chef, Diane Perry will be off on vacation and will miss the Luau once again, but no fear, Lori Withers will be in charge of the appetizer table this year. And she has gone all out to make the Luau memorable for all of us. This is what she told me that she plans on having for us: A Hawaiian Dip made with cream cheese and served with thin pretzel chips; Hawaiian meat balls, (not Spam, thank you very much); and Jerk chicken sliders. And, if that’s not enough, she’s thinking about fruit skewers, too. I plan on not eating for two days so I can enjoy the Luau! Only kidding, I’ll probably just cut my breakfast down to coffee and toast, maybe with a little peanut butter, and then there’s lunch, oh well. I won’t step on the scale for a few days, that oughta work.

Anyway, that’s what I have in store for you this year. I hope to see you all there on Saturday the 18th and let us run out of everything. Hey, no worry, that’ll never happen, I think. Haha. See you there, I hope. Oh ya, I’m told there will be cake to celebrate my birthday week. Actually had it on Sunday already, but hey, it’s cake!
