National Public Data, a company that collects information from nonpublic sources without consent, has been hit by a massive data breach. The company makes money by selling personal data to employers, private investigators and anyone conducting background checks. The hackers made off with the records of a staggering 2.9 billion people in three countries including our country, the UK, and Canada. Many of the records are duplicates or of deceased persons but the remainder are valid. Basically a lot of people have had their Social Security Numbers stolen. Beware of unauthorized billings from your health provider.. Carefully examine your monthly bank statements. Be cautious with emails and phone calls.
