Technology Doesn’t Have to Be Scary
Scott Hillis
Online technology articles can be useful, but they can also be intimidating. All the talk about artificial intelligence (A.I.), scammers, fraud schemes, and invasions of privacy can feel overwhelming—especially for those who don’t consider themselves tech experts.
Each day, I read tips and warnings from experts such as Kim Komando and Ask Leo. They remind us to be cautious when opening emails, listening to voicemails, clicking on internet links, or responding to unexpected messages. Their advice is simple: don’t be afraid of technology, but take a moment to think before you click.
Fortunately, help is available right here in our community. We have a wonderful group of residents who meet once a month to discuss the latest technology, share tips, and help one another solve computer and cell phone problems.
Tech 4 Seniors meets on the first Wednesday of each month from 10:30 a.m. to noon in the clubhouse. Whether you’re a beginner, have a specific question, or simply want to learn something new, you’re welcome to attend.
I also have a personal request. By the end of this year, I hope to pass leadership of the group to someone else. If you enjoy technology and would be interested in leading Tech 4 Seniors, please let me know. Fresh ideas and new approaches can help us make even better use of the talents within our group while encouraging new members to join.
We hope to see you at our next meeting!
