Well, at least it’s only one more message, not two as I thought it would be. See, I can be nice!
The First Annual Shenanigans Chili Cook-Off has really gotten into my head and imagination, and I can’t wait for Saturday to get here! This is gonna be big, we have sixteen (that’s 16) contestants that are entering their very own special chili recipe for us to sample and vote on. I was hoping we’d get five or six entries when we first came up with the idea not long ago; I’d never expect 16!
Now, I’ve been warned several times, this is not a chili feed, it’s a judging; however, with 16 contestants hoping for the bragging rights that come from placing in the top three, corn bread and beer bread to cleanse your palate, and let’s not forget the bar is open and it’s a Happy 2 Hours, can you at least imagine how excited I might be? You know what the best part of my job will be on Saturday, I get to award three medals and three gift cards to the best of the best, and I can forget that I’m supposed to be on a diet, too!
I hope I’ve enticed you to come and support your neighbors in the village and cheer them on to victory. But almost as important, that everyone will come back next year to make it even bigger and better contest and a permanent January event for our village.
That’s it, I’m not eating anything until Saturday so I may sample everyone’s entry and sample some beer bread that I only have fond memories about right now.
See you Saturday at 3:45 p.m., yes, we are opening 15 minutes earlier, so you’ll have enough time to get a drink before the sampling starts at 4:15 p.m.
